Wetland ranger Ma Xili and his mangroves in Jiangmen

Ma Xili has been a wetland ranger in Shenjing Town, Taishan, Jiangmen for 17 years. His daily routine is to patrol the mangrove wetland to clean up trash and watch out for perpetrators. The Taishan Zhenhaiwan Mangrove National Wetland Park in Jiangmen is the largest and best-preserved contiguous mangrove wetland in the Pearl River Delta region. With such a wide area, it usually takes Ma Xili at least two hours for a patrol. Click on the video to find out more about Ma's story.

Birds' Paradise, Kaiping Peacock Lake, Gulao Water Town... Thanks to the hard work of thousands of wetland rangers, the wetland ecosystem of Jiangmen can stay healthy and steady. Jiangmen is one of the prefecture-level cities with the richest wetland resources in Guangdong. Its wetlands cover an area of 1,735 square kilometers, with the protected swamp totaling 414 square kilometers, and the protection rate of wetlands is up to 23.8%.
