The Hengqin section of the Zhuhai Airport Urban Rail Transit Phase II now has a completed main structure, while prefabricated beams have been cast in place for Hengqin Interchange of the Jinhai Avenue Bridge, China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group recently reported.

Concrete has been poured for a ballastless (slab) track bed on the Hengqin section of the Zhuhai Airport Urban Rail Transit Phase II, says the contractor. Meanwhile, cast-in-place beams are being formed for the Hengqin Interchange. Once operational in 2023, the two major projects will connect Hengqin and Jinwan District as well as the city’s East and West wings.

At the same time, the second round of standard steel box girder lifting for the Modaomen Highway-Railway Grand Bridge of the Jinhai Avenue Bridge project is on target to create the world's first and widest multi-tower cable-stayed bridge with both a highway and railway on the same platform.

Phase II of the Zhuhai Airport Urban Rail Transit extends westward from Hengqin Chimelong Station, goes beneath Big Hengqin Mt, spans the Modaomen and Baiteng River waterways where it will merge into the Jinhai Avenue Bridge, and finally reach Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport in Sanzao Town.

With a designated speed of 160 kmph (99.5 mph), an express train from Gongbei will reach the airport in 15 minutes, and trains with stops enroute can complete the journey in half an hour. In addition, space is reserved for commercial development at Jingwan Station on Hengqin Avenue and East Sanzao Station on East Jinhai Road.
